How to take good night club photos?

I'm going to a party next week and I want to get good photos.
Like vivid images maybe like this:

It would have been good if you could have given some example shots that you've taken.

The camera looks perfectly capable of getting good results.

the trick is getting the flash power just right for the distance and zoom you've chosen. It's definitely not easy.

If you're looking to get a little bit creative, try configuring the camera to use a shutter speed like a third of a second, and firing the flash at the beginning - then you'll get some REALLY cool effects - like used in DJMag.

It's a difficult environment to take good photos of because the flash has such a greater effect on close objects than distant objects - and a built-in flash can create red-eye problems, and create harsh shadows. You might want to invest in a diffuser for your flash, $3 on ebay - it softens the flash and is more flattering on skin

Focusing will be the hardest part because in low light the depth of field is typically shallow so only exactly what you focus on will be crisp
