Collection Album
Isn't a DJ's album just a collection of other peoples' songs?
I've recently noticed that there are a lot of albums by DJs, but aren't these just collections of other peoples' songs. What would make it an original work of the DJ? Or do they have to pay for the use to the original artist? How does that work? I like some of these albums, but are they stealing the work in some way? (Example: DJ - ATB, album - No Silence) Or does DJ not mean what I think it means anymore?
Yeah they can be often remixes of other original tracks (some really old too!)
Some DJ's often make their own music and you will find those are the ones that have the larger fan base like Chemical Brothers, Tiesto, Groove Armada, the Presets etc
The DJs ur referring to get permission from the artist or the owner of the music to remix the track. Its not stealing or they would have been sued for millions!
