Old Photograph
How to flatten an old photograph?
My dad has his class picture from 1937. The photo is about 10x25. It has been rolled up for all these years. We tried to lay it flat with weight on it,didn't do much to help. It is getting brittle from the years and he has now rolled it up again,for what reason,I don't know. I would love to preserve this picture. Any ideas how to flatten it out after being rolled up for 70 years?
About the only suggestion I have is to soak the photo in some plain warm water and let the paper slowly relax or uncurl. After the paper has flattened, you need to carefully take the print out and put it face down on a smooth glossy surface (piece of glass) and squeegee the water out. Then let the print dry. Then you can see what archival process you can use to preserve the dried print.
