Photos Lot
When on a vacation trip, do you take a lot of photos and videos...?
or do you just absorb the moments and file them as memories.
I've found that when I concentrate on taking photos and videos of special moments, I actually miss out on the moments (and memories) and only wind up with the photos for the trip. A poor substitute.
Your question and details made me smile; I agree that it is easy to become absorbed in taking pictures and missing 'the moment'. Both my husband and I have done that a time or two, but not as often as we used to. The most striking instance for us was during the birth of our first child, over 26 years ago. My husband was supposed to be my birth coach; but he became so absorbed in taking photos of the 'event' that he didn't coach me through the final moments. Let's just say that I was 'displeased'. The camera was banned from the delivery room when our second daughter was born.
We now switch back and forth between taking photos and simply being in the moment. Sometimes we go out with the sole purpose of taking photos; and have had tons of fun doing this. We recently spent nearly 3 hours strolling along Cocoa Beach in Florida; taking pictures of everything; ourselves, our shadows, our footprints, birds, stingrays, crabs, sand, waves, boats, buildings, clouds, etc. We had a great afternoon!
