Original Transparency
How do I flatten the image?
I'm new to the program GIMP, and I'm trying to save a file I've been working on, but when I try to save it, it says:
Your image should be exported before it can be saved as JPEG for the following reasons:
JPEG plug-in can't handle transparency.
Flatten image.
The export conversion won't modify your original image.
Does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it? I would GREATLY appreciate help! Thanks so much!
As far as I can tell, this means that you have the image layered, and it needs to be "flattened" into one layer in order to complete the conversion.
Try this link: http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/graphics_tools/gimp_user_manual/en/gimp-image-flatten.html
Unfortunately, I believe that when you flatten the image, you may lose any alpha-channel (transparency) that you may have set in your file. The reason is that JPEG format does not support transparency in files. If you'd like to achieve this in a small/manageable format, you can try saving in GIF or PNG. If it were me, I'd go PNG.
