Yves Cousteau
What do you think this quote means?
"When one man, for whatever reason, has the opportunity to lead an extraordinary life, he has no right to keep it to himself." - Jacques Yves Cousteau
I found this quote and i have been trying to figure out what it means or is trying to say exactly. any help would be great, thanks
Jacques Cousteau was a world renowned leader in the field of oceanography when it was still in its infancy. Between 1960 and his death in the 1970's, he produced at least one special per year about his submarine explorations of the bottom of our oceans. The John Denver song "Calypso" was written and sung in his honor. Because he shared his extraordinary life with me and millions other children growing up at that time, he inspired me to want to study the oceans as well. If I had access to his old shows right now, I would provide them for my daughter to see. Even without those shows, the current ones that exist now have made her want to be a marine biologist when she grows up.
The quote means: Share the phenomenal things that occur in your life with all those who will listen or see. It would be a travesty to keep something of great beauty or extraordinary power and consequence to yourself.
